Senior Engineer – Llanidloes

Senior Systems Control Engineer
Location: Llanidloes
Hours: Monday to Friday, typically 7:30am – 4:30pm
Salary: Depending on experience

A local business in Llanidloes is looking to recruit a Senior Systems Control Engineer to join its growing team. This is a varied role involving customer projects from workshop build through to on-site installation and final commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical installation and commissioning of equipment using Siemens PLCs, HMIs, inverters, robotic and pneumatic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the building of control panels and automation systems.
  • Develop PLC, HMI and robotic programmes.
  • Carry out on-site installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Mentor and support the development of junior controls engineers.
  • Deliver operator training following machinery installation.
  • Provide technical support to customers as required.
  • Record parts used and diagnose equipment faults and breakdowns.
  • Produce technical reports and customer documentation.
  • Report project progress to senior management.
  • Split time approximately 50/50 between the workshop and customer sites.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with Siemens PLCs and knowledge of ABB robotic systems (desirable).
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in reactive maintenance and small project work.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and occasionally Europe.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A good understanding of equipment mechanics and machine design.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills.
  • The ability to complete clear and accurate worksheets and technical documentation.
