Main Saw Line Operative
Location: Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Day Shifts)
Salary: Attractive hourly rate, negotiable and reviewed periodicallyA local business in Bishop’s Castle is looking to recruit a Main Saw Line Operative to join its production team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern timber processing technology in a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will take responsibility for operating the main saw line, ensuring efficient production while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the main saw line to ensure efficient production.
- Monitor production data and make live adjustments to cutting patterns as required.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Work closely with the engineering team and report any equipment issues.
- Change bandsaws and associated equipment when required.
- Carry out daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform basic machine maintenance, including greasing and oiling in line with maintenance schedules.
- Maintain effective communication with the Production Manager.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets and quality standards.
- Complete all relevant training required for the role.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within timber processing, manufacturing or a similar production environment (advantageous).
- Good computer skills and confidence using production systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A reliable, hands-on and safety-conscious approach to work.
- A strong understanding of the importance of product quality.
- The flexibility to work 12-hour day shifts when required, with overtime available.
