Monday to Friday, with a choice of 8:30am – 5:00pm or 9:00am – 5:30pm (30-minute lunch break)

Role Overview

A local business in Oswestry is seeking a Credit Controller to join its finance team on a permanent basis. This role is responsible for managing customer accounts, supporting healthy cash flow, and reducing financial risk through effective credit control processes. You will work closely with internal teams and customers in a busy and supportive office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage credit control activities across multiple areas of the business.
• Review and release customer orders while monitoring outstanding balances.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding overdue payments.
• Carry out credit checks and set up new customer accounts.
• Maintain accurate customer records and guarantee documentation.
• Process direct debit collections and update customer payment terms.
• Manage payment deferrals and agree suitable repayment plans where required.
• Handle account amendments, including name changes and related administration.
• Provide regular updates on outstanding debt to internal teams.
• Prepare monthly credit control reports and monitor team performance against targets.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in credit control, sales ledger or finance administration is desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication skills with a professional and friendly telephone manner.
• Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Excel and other computer systems.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn, with full training provided.
